What does Acupressure entail and what are its benefits?

What is acupressure?

This type of massage stems back to Chinese medicine. It is used as a natural form of pain relief and healing. It is similar to acupuncture, but in acupressure there are no needles involved. (A plus for those who have a fear of needles) This technique is accessible to anyone, young or old.

You carefully apply pressure instead with your fingertips, but not just anywhere: only on specific points on your body where pressure is absolutely necessary to increase healing. These specific points are called “meridians”.

These pressure points work as energy channels also known as “chi” that run through your body . If the flow of energy is interrupted, your body will communicate that through feeling sick, back pain, etc.

It is important to note that this is not a replacement for treatment of serious medical problems but is actually quite beneficial alongside treatment by medical professionals.

What are the benefits of acupressure?

Acupressure can help our body as well as our mind heal in many ways.

It can help in relieving different types of muscle pain like back pain, or sore muscles from working out at the gym.

Built-up fatigue can also be reduced. This can also promote better circulation in the body.

This massage technique also aids in stress relief. While you are treated, this experience can be considered necessary me-time. You can take this time to sit back, relax and give love back to yourself. Enjoy the stream of endorphins, the feel-good hormone that helps you feel better.

You are also sure to experience less anxiety through this relaxing experience, especially if you do it consistently to really encourage results.
