How to eat more mindfully

Are there times when you feel like you aren’t in control of how much you’re eating? Do you feel like you go overboard before you’re eve n aware of it? Then tune into these helpful tips that will teach you all about mindful eating.

Listen to your body

This means respecting your hunger cues and eating when you’re hungry. This also means respecting your boundaries and making sure you eat until you’re satisfied. This is an act of self-care.

Try avoiding distractions

Watching your favorite TV show can distract you so much that you can eat more than needed and feel bad about it afterwards. This way you avoid a situation of accidentally finishing a family size bag of chips without knowing it until you’re done.

Try to avoid eating out of the bag/container

If you feel like this triggers you to eat past fullness, it’s a good idea to get out a bowl and portion out how much you want to eat.

Chew your food

It’s good to make sure you’re chewing your food thoroughly. It helps slow you down and this way you can also avoid any accidents such as choking.

Slow down

Sometimes when we’re really hungry or excited, we can almost inhale our meals. There’s no need to rush. Take the time to be present with your meal and really enjoy it.
