How to deal with a bad temper

10/03/2020 Amari Lindroos

We all have times in our lives that get really stressful. Sometimes we don’t exactly know how to handle our emotions in those moments. That’s completely normal. We’re all humans! But it is good to keep ourselves in check and know when we’re the ones in the wrong. Here are some tips on how to deal with anger in a more healthy way!

Think before doing :

Practice discipline here, it is very important to think about what negative impact your words or actions could have on other people… We all say things we don’t mean sometimes! It’s better to prevent these outbursts as much as possible!

Take some time for yourself:

Sometimes you need to pause and set your boundaries. Any second more and you can accidentally and also unintentionally cross a line you absolutely don’t want to cross. Stop yourself in that moment, breathe, count to ten, leave the room and do something that will distract you from the nagging feeling of anger. Relaxing, hobbies, do something that makes you smile.

Move around:

Sometimes you need to release your negative energy , but it’s better not to do that towards family, friends, co-workers or even strangers! Exercise makes your body as well as your brain feel good!

Write down your feelings:

It could be a good idea to keep a daily journal to jot down how your feeling and check in with yourself during the day to see how your mood fluctuates.

Talk to someone that you trust:

This could be family, a friend, a partner, a therapist, etc. Someone that understands you, knows you and could give you comfort or maybe some advice in your personal life.
